OK, here’s a twist. I’ve used Photoshop Elements for some time and love it. So many tell me to switch to Photoshop and the only reason is “it is industry standard.” But now I also use Lightroom (wow, what a product). So tell me, why do I need to switch to Photoshop? I can get Photoshop at educational discount, so cost isn’t a problem. I just don’t want to switch just to say I have the industry standard and not actually be doing much more than I can already do with PSE and Lightroom.

      Hi Jim,

Great comment and question. The big Why question! Well in my opinion if Elements can do everything that you’re needing it to do then great! There’s certain features that are in Photoshop that are not in Elements e.g. CMYK, channels etc. but if you’re surviving without them and you’re really happy with the level of features you currently have then great. Just compare the features before upgrading if you do. Elements and Lightroom is a great combination.

      Cheers
      Shane

I’ve had CS3 for a year now and feel that it’s more than enough power for the wildlife and scenic pictures that I post or sell. CS4, I don’t think so.

Adobe seem to be trying to assassinate the Goose which laid the Golden Egg !! People like me have been using PS since the mid-80′s but this is never acknowledged. There should be a structured sliding scale of upgrade prices and those who helped Adobe get where they are today should be rewarded with low upgrade prices !!!
Upgrades are very expensive and seemingly getting more so with every version.
If Adobe had a good helpline it might be better value for money but I gave up trying to get through them years ago. It’s little wonder that Corel are doing so well – Adobe be warned.

I won’t be upgrading to PS4, because I can’t even get past PS CS2! I’d like to use the CS2 program I have, but the Bridge messes everything up by getting stuck and not allowing me access to my files! I contacted Adobe as well as my computer mfgr., but they couldn’t help.

I simply became content with using Photoshop Elements 2.0, in which things are straightforward & uncomplicated. I do venture into CS2 when I need type modifications, but then spend an hour or so trying to get my work transferred to PS Elements so I can find it and work it further.

The website given isn’t my PERSONAL website. but it’s where I hang out. I’m jini and I stay out of politics. My other hangout is my online store at CafePress, which I’m still trying to refine within the very narrow parameters we’re given.

    Hi Shane
Because I purchased CS3 in 2008, I won’t be upgrading at present. I would like to get some more value out of CS3, so am still going to keep using that version.
I’m stil to become familiar with many of the ugraded facilities on CS3.
    Hope this info helps.
    Regards
    Rosco
