Amazing Thailand – Day 2

  • Day 2 in the City of Angels. Another amazing jam packed day with some shopping, Tuk Tuk’s, Taxi’s, Hotels, Great Food, Stomach aches, Diahorrea and more! Here’s some cool photos

On the way to Pattaya from Bangkok. This makes me re-think my philosophy about packing a car! Never say it can’t be done!

Mike’s new set of wheels 3 Seater Bicycle :) Almost a station wagon!

Thai spaghetti bowl – concrete city! Highways everywhere, intertwining.

Having some late night dinner in Pattaya with some good friends. Although this did give me a guts ache!

Construction Thai style! Slightly different OH&S standards than Australia.

Check out the powerlines – just outside from our Hotel here in Pattaya for the conference.

Good friend Pruek posing as a Muay Thai boxer infront of the poster.

Mike at dinner last night. Was a long day. Starting to feel exhausted now!

My son just returned from a 3 week visit to Thailand. He spent most of his time in Chiang Mai and also visited the island Koh Sumai which he said was quite beautiful. Stayed on Koh Sumai at the Four Seasons which he says puts all other resorts to shame.
He took a cooking class in Chiang Mau, visited an elephant camp, and went to the waterfront markets where you shop in a boat. He also went to a place where they have the large cats and went into a cage to have his pic taken with a large tiger.
The weather is quite humid there and he was glad to get back to AZ. I know the monsoon season is just startingt so it will be even more humid for the next few months. He says the food is very good and very reasonable as well as hotel rates.

    Hi
I did leave some thoughts. I wonder if you got them. Anyway a quick repeat of the most important: if you get a thump on your backside you’re about to lose your wallet. Look out for oneanother.
Don’t forget to go to Sukhotai (I believe, if I remember correctly) that is how you spell the name of the place, and try and go at “Loy Kratong” – however it is spelt – to the “festival of light” – its equivalent in India is “Diwali” or however it is spelt.
Don’t forget to take the wife and kids next time. No excuses will be excepted.
    Edward

Edward, Loy Kratong is in mid November. Doubt the guys will still be touring then.

But mid April 13 to 17th is Songkran Festival. Actually the Thai New Year. Happy water time.

Traditionally, sprinkling of clean water on elder relations etc marking respect to them., but now degenerated into a nation wide riot of skirting water canons and throwing buckets of water over everyone that gets close enough. No point in trying to dodge it, you will get drowned in water for 4 days. No phones or cameras unless underwater type hehe.
But there are some great pics to be had!!
Also 4 days of incredible carnage on the roads with thousands killed.

The pictures of the power lines and truck load look very similar to the area I was in when in Ecuador last year at about this time.

Looks great – the pics you have taken of the wires look exactly the same as the pic I took in Vietnam- could be the same power poles actually. Picture of the truck brought back memories – its unbelievable what they can get on the back of a truck, bike etc.

    Enjoy

Yes, and the same as in Chile! My friend says this makes it easier to tap into power – illegally!

Amazing Thailand…so many things completely different than Australia…or most anywhere else! Anything goes! TiT (This is Thailand) Is a commonly used expression for the out of ordinary that really is a part of everyday life here.
    3 seater bike…Ive seen a family of 7 on a motorbike frequently!
Cars abd M/Bikes drive up the wrong side of the road everywhere.
Food…best in the world by far, but can be VERY spicy hot.
Pattaya…the sleeze city of Thailand. You havent seen the real Thailand if you only see Bangkok and Pattaya.
You love it or hate it. But once smitten, the memories last forever.
I have now been in Thailand for 5 years…. and could never go back to live in my native country New Zealand again
