Thailand Day 1
By Shane on March 18, 2010 | 15 Comments
Here we are at dinner on Day 1 for a Seafood extravaganza! It was amazing. The restaurant is located over the river, have to get through lots of backstreets to get there but absolutely worth it! Dinner was 925 Baht in total (just over $30) that included about 8 dishes, all drinks for 3 people. It was amazing and we couldn’t eat about 1/2 of it too. Just too filling
Mike on the side of the street near Pratuu Naam – lots of action going on in the background!
Some Red-Shirt action in Bangkok!
More Red-shirt action
Very peaceful – posed no threat or issue for us at all.Streets of Bangkok – here’s some of the protesters making there way through (Red-Shirts) Was very peaceful from our perspective, people were cheering them on as they drove past was almost like welcoming home olympians after a successful olympics or something! I know that probably sounds really weird
Pineapples at the Markets (near Chatuchak)
Gotta love the crafty electrical work!
The view from where we had dinner. (bit of a crappy photo) but hopefully you get the feel for what it was like.
The houses on the river right next to where we were eating dinner. Some beautiful traditional housing others look like rickety old lean to type houses – amazing stuff
This dish is something that probably very few thai food lovers would have experienced! It’s Pad Thai (minus the noodles) a special ‘famous’ seafood version! Absolutely delicious.
This is my probably all time favourite Thai dish Naam Tog with Khaaw Niaw (sticky rice) I had it twice yesterday – a bit of a pig but I really love it and had to make the most of it!! LOL
On the Tuk Tuk in the pouring rain!! This was hilarious. The Tuk Tuk started to splutter a little as it was getting water logged, we were all laughing so hard as we were getting soaked, ducking and weaving through the traffic and wondering if we were going to make it before the Tuk Tuk stalled!! LOL Fun times.

Is that Mike or Superman?
By Shane on January 21, 2010 | 4 Comments
Well before I get into explaining more about Superman Mike I just wanted to give you a bit of an update. 2010 is here. Mike and I are both 34 years of age now and he will turn 35 in May and I’ll turn 35 in November. We’ve both passed the youthful late teen years and now steaming toward ‘mid life’? ooohh aaahh
Well the both of us have set goals for 2010 (call them Mid-Life goals if you like!) and we thought we’d share a bit of that with you today. For me having been really involved in sports as a youngster I’m re-motivated to do another Triathlon. I’ve got a goal to do an Olympic Distance Triathlon. I’ve never done one before (1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10km run) but would love to complete one. So some serious training is back on the agenda!! ouch!
Mike in his previous youthful life was a legendary skateboarder. The envy of all the other skaters at the skate parks wherever he went. He’s lost the long hair and youthful ways now but he’s still RIPPING IT UP! as you can see below. Anyway, he’s had his skateboard gathering dust for the past 10 years with only the odd skate here or there but now it’s ‘Mid-Life Mania’ time!
Mike’s decided he wants to start ripping it up again doing all his pro moves and I’m going to pretend to be more of an elite athlete than I really am – that’s 2010 for us!
I took this photo on my iPhone and with the iPhone camera delay managed to fluke this one somehow. Yes, it is very high and Yes he landed it like a true pro.
It’s not the only goal for 2010 but one each that we thought you might enjoy.
Every morning Monday to Friday we head down to Pizzey Park Gold Coast where Mike goes skating and I tear it up at the pool (well try to anyway!) I’ve drop a few kg already
I love this photo below too – taken on the iPhone with no editing at all, with the optical illusion that the board is bending! Yihaa
We’ll try and keep you updated on our progress with the odd video and photos so you can see how we’re going.
Have a great day and enjoy the PSD videos.
Cheers
ShaneBefore you go … what about you? Have you got any crazy plans for 2010? Any crazy photos taken with an iphone?
If so, tell us about them in the comment section.

How to get a Chalk and Charcoal Filter effect Photoshop CS4
By Shane on September 1, 2009 | 3 Comments
Creating cool chalk and charcoal effects is easy with the chalk and charcoal filter in Photoshop CS4. You’ll find it in the Filter tab under the sketch menu. (Filter>Sketch>Chalk & Charcoal.)
1. Open your image then select the chalk and charcoal filter from the sketch menu under the filter tab.
2. The light areas of your picture will inherit the background colors and the dark areas will inherit the foreground colors.
3. Set the chalk and charcoal areas in the middle of the settings range so you can increase or decrease the effect as needed. Set it to 10 or less.
4. Experiment with the pressure. Start at 2 or 3 then adjust the numbers ’til you get the view looking the way you want it. Again, experiment here.
5. Click OK to apply the filter
6. Look at the result and decide if you like it or not.
Once satisfied with the result, save your work.
