I have a PC with Windows XP at home. I use a Mac as a volonteer in the T.V. comunity station there I create my short movies and I enjoy the Mac very much,I wish I have one at home of my own.
Here in Israel the Macs are very expensive and the maintenance is expasive too that why the P.C. is much popular here.
What do you do with the “old” Macs I will be glad if you will donnate tham to me/us.
Anyway I think that the Mac is much batter then the P.C.
I wish you great preformance with your new Mac which I’m shure you’ll do.

hi shane.., i’ve been using Mac for quite sometime now. The industry i’m working through much prefer to use a high end one, in order to produce quality performance. Since i do a lot of graphic design and multiple applications, MAC doesn’t give much problem in terms of speed, virus checker, easy and friendly to use, just a click and drag away. Hope to have a new mac book pro soon, i’ll saving my money for it. God Bless!

I have a PC with Windows XP. Have never used a Mac but people have been encouraging me to get one. I have been let down by PC and have been frustrated with slowdowns and screen freezing, so after reading all the above comments have decided to go Mac some time in the next year. Not sure what to expect, but it’ll be better!

I have used Macs for the last 5 years and would not go back to PC, although I still use them in work or club situations. The only downfall is the lack of availability of many Photoshop plugins for mac :(

Hi, Shane. I work on both PC and Mac. Shane, I’m jealous of you. I would like to purchase a Mac like you have. I used to open pc file in my macintosh I used to own and print the file on a Linotype. PC always had problems with drivers. You can depend on a Mac.

Mac. Free of virus, malware. The less wasting time with the system, the more I like. Better UI is also a time saver.

I’m a PC user too. The first computer I bought was a PC and since I like PC, never have been interested in the Mac. Anyway, I’m too old to learn something new, especially when I don’t need it.

I am a PC user. I use LINUX(Fedora core 9 at this moment) for internet, programming, multimedia etc. and Windows XP for photoediting and some other works. In my workplace also I use PC with Windows mostly. I don’t have any problem in any of this operating system. I never had opportunity to work in MAC, but heard lot of compliments about it. Hope oneday I will have some experience with MAC. Thanks for your query.

I’ve been using a Mac since 1984. Even though Apple has made some radical changes every now and again, I would recommend the Mac to everyone. It has one of the most reliable and sound designs ever. And to some of the PC-whiners, YES, quality is something you pay for…

So Shane, I’m glad that you went back to Mac…
Once you go Mac, you never go back :-)

What gives with you MAC users..RUDE The Mac is OK the PC is OK. I use both and actually like the PC better as I can do so much more with it…. I just visited a service provider security team this past week.. They commented on one of the reasons PC get a bad rap is because of the virus attacts they get which cause problems for the user… They also commented that the MAC system is now starting to see more… So watch out Mac users here they come.

I started my computer life with an Apple ][ clone and then moved on to Macs of which I have had four. I much prefer them over PCs which seem rather clumsy when using Windows software.
Not that the Mac is perfect: it could stand some tweaking but it’s a nice machine for working with photos, video and graphics. Its ease of operation is great.

Hi Shane – When I went to design school we used Mac’s but in my studio I’ve always used PC’s that I have built for me by “my goto guy.” I keep updated with plenty of memory/ram and so far, for about 20 yrs., had only minor problems. As long as I can remember I’ve heard about designers only using Mac’s, well this designer is doing just fine. Thanks for asking!

I’ve used computers since 1986…all Mac’s. Too expensive? Not if they do what you need them to do, and doesn’t get in the way of doing those things. The price, is simply what I have to pay for something that satisfies me. And, when it amazes me…I’m even more satisfied.

I’m an artist and photographer, and have always felt that Apple products, and software developed for them are more in tune with my reasons for using a computer. The operating system doesn’t “get in the way”, the hardware is “complete”, well designed and “holds up”, software installs easily…I do the art and take the pictures, the computer takes care of itself.

I’ve always felt that software developed for the Mac (while there may not be as many programs) are the most innovative, reliable, working seamlessly with each other and with new technologies and devices as well.

MAC, MAC, MAC! Ditto to all the positive statements above. Easy, allows for more creativity, no viruses. Yes, it’s more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Put a little aside each paycheck and when you’re ready to buy, you’ll have the money.
Yes, there are downsides, if MACs are all you own, including compatibility issues if some of your business includes PC-only owners or websites, (but it does get me out of some work… gee, I’m sorry, I can’t do that, as your PC couldn’t read it… ). I’d also like to be able to go to anywhere and have additional programs available, instead of having to buy them through the Mac Store. However the troubles are minor compared to the PC problems, and yes, I’ve worked with both.
Let’s face it, we’re never going to convince the other side, and PCs are improving daily. Best to all, no matter which you choose!

In continuance of my comment, viruses pose no threat to my MacPro. Whereas, my Windows XP and PCs in general are vulnerable and susceptible to all kinds of viruses even though a current firewall and anti-virus protection is guarding the PC. I have been fortunate in protecting my Windows XP using Verizon anti-virus protection and have not had any problems. So far so good!

Macs Rule!! I would never use a PC for design work. Been a Mac user ever since 128K Mac. Glad to have you a board. :) PC are way too quirky, the mouse is way too unstable for me, no matter the adjustment. I’m a Computer geek, so I have MACs and two PCs around, I use PCs for compatibility issues, internet connection, to see how web sites I design look etc. No real design work, Dealing with fonts on the PC level is well way too messy. A long with all the trouble shooting you have to do to get stuff to work. No thanks.

I’ve always owned PC’s. I have 5 of them running right now in my home network, so getting a MAC is a non-issue. I’ve used MAC’s at school for Photoshop training and have not been impressed at all. I always end up bringing my work home to finish up on my PC. I get frustrated with the MAC interface. It would also be very expensive to switch at this point with all the software I have loaded. I so hate PC’s antivirus software programs and have had numerous problems with them, but I guess it comes down to whatever you’re comfortable with. I know my way around a PC. With MAC, I’m a stranger in a strange land.

I use a MAC ad so does our whole department. We do not like worrying about viruses, pressing “start” to shut down or crashing in the middle of projects so we went MAC……. great decision!!!! We wouldn’t change for anything.

Hey guys, let’s drop the Mac elite symdrum! What really counts are the “creative programs“ (and I do not mean all those almost, but not quite there MS Windows). What it is really needed is a cross over program for those few running on Mac and the many on PCs!
The bunk is over! If you are really creative it makes no difference if you are using a PC or Mac. And I do not mean “CREATIVE” by program dexterity… if you cannot handle it, leave the arena and stop complaining!!!!

I was this close to getting a Mac when I decided to swing for Photoshop CS4. My only contention was that I had NO software for a MAC operating system and I would need to use whatever I got for multiple purposes. That was the only thing that kept me from taking that leap.

Currently using 3 Macs….a G4 with OS X 10.4+ for my private practice, an IMAC at home I do my photography on, an aluminum powerbook, and have an even older MAC just sitting. I’ve been a MAC user sine ’89. I own one PC which I use for testing for my therapy office because when I bought it that was the only choice and one Dell portable, again a single use machine (embroidery. I love my MACS and don’t need anyone else to maintain as many as I own. The MACS are the only machines use on the Internet.

I owned a PC for years until four years ago when my wife bought me an iMac G5. I will never go back to a PC. My machine is still running great and it is so much easier to use than a PC. I used to get so frustrated with my Dell PC freezing up, crashing, getting slower and slower. That has not happened with my Mac and it is 4 years old. It really is true, once you have tried Mac, there is no going back.

I use both the MacPro and Windows XP Personal Computer (PC). The Mac Pro tends to be geared toward entertainers and photographers, whereas Windows XP is geared towards both business professionals, entertainers and photographers. However, the MacPro handbook excludes valuable technical information only provided by Apple’s technical reps. I had to call Apple to get the information about switching between monitors from MacPro reps because this was a part of the information that was excluded (before the 90-day warranty expired). However, the MacPro reps were helpful and patient.

I purchased my Windows XP from Dell, and Dell’s customer/technical service reps sucked although it came with a five-year warranty. They were ruled and lacked technical skills. For instance, before my warranty expired, Dell replaced the monitor on my laptop, and ever since then, I have had a problem where the letters on the monitor appear to be broken and faded (in gray), especially when typing in bold. Dell was never able to resolve this problem. Since several of their reps could not assess the problem, I refused to let them take my laptop with them for fear that they would replace the perfectly working parts on my laptop with recycled ones while making mistakes in diagnosis. Does anyone know what this problem may be? Furthermore, when the warranty expires, Dell told me that they make a practice of using only recycled replacement parts versus new ones. I believe they were trying to confiscate perfectly working parts on my laptop for recycle purposes for their other customers.

One of the problems I have with MacPro is that there were too many steps to switch the monitor from ProMac to my big screen TV. Whereas, with the PC you simply press function keys. Another problem I have with MacPro is that I was told by a MacPro rep that I needed to purchase an external mouse in order to use right-click functions of the mouse; a function normally used on PCs. Overall, what I cannot do on one, I can on the other.

Well looks like everyone likes MAC never used one so cant say but I have a new amd/64 at 3 g with 4 g memory and its fast. runs programs real good. I think all the hoopala abt a mac is it WAS the best computer for graphics way back but NOW I don’t think so,but then also im using ubuntu 8.10 wich is a very good OS biggest prob is some programs, but there are a LOT for it. Also in a pc as long as u have a good router ur safe tho a virus program is a good idea in any computer. Unless u dont go anywhere or open anything in email! so thats my rant!

Mac’s are so worker friendly and way faster than any PC i have worked on. You also don’t need to be a rocket scientist to solve problems when a Mac gives you one which are not often …… need i say more
