Respected Shane,
What I assume you worked it out with PS-CS2 to be so accurate. How? Let me try to explain.
1) Vanishing Point Filter to Clone the sea, its shore, shadow of the lady with every other detail maintaining all the angles very perfectly and thus removing the Lady and her shadow.
2) Duplicate the Background Layer.
3) Go to Images> Adjustment> Hue/Saturation and change only the Hue percentage of Cyan & Blue and hit OK when done.
4)Open a New File with Custom Size of Width: 500 pixels, Height: 487 pixels at 72 dpi/inch with Background Colour set to Default Black from the drop down menu and name the File. In my case its ‘couple-beach-after RECONSTRUCTED’.
5)Activate the File: ‘couple-beach-after’> select Move Tool> Drag & Move the Background Copy Layer to File: ‘couple-beach-after RECONSTRUCTED’ which automatically activates this File as well.
6) With the Shift key remaining pressed, drag any of the corner handle of Background copy layer till it arrives the desired size and move it to position which enriches the look of the picture in view. Press Enter when done.
7) Save the File ‘couple-beach-after RECONSTRUCTED’ in both PSD & JPEG format and one is done.
Earlier on 28th October my comments can be found in No: 62 & 63. By then I had only left comments on vanishing the lady and her shadow. Today I gave it a second try and I feel I achieved a close-to-you result.
Eagerly awaiting comments from the Master: Mr. Shane Goldberg.

Hmmm lol
Lots of ways to do this, of course lol.
Dup layer.
Patch tool and clone tool to lose the girl and fix water.
Clone tool to erase her hand and fix his arm etc and also to take out shadow and footprints.
Hue and Sat to add colour to all of the image.
New layer fill with black and use crop tool to adjust size for border.
October 30, 2008 11:09 pm
Using the retangular marquee tool made a selection to the left of the girl, same height but a bit wider. Copied to new layer and moved it over girl. Used a soft edge erazer to blend edges to sea background. Merged down.repeated selection to new layer. Moved over to slightly cover rest og girl, her shadow and part of male so sea is covered to left of male. Used same erazer settings to blend left egdes. Added a layer mask to reveal the man and required hand area.Clone tool to remove girls hand at about 75%, soft edged brush.Blur tool to soften cloning.Adjusted the cyan in the selective color adjustment to achievecolor tone. Border was achieved by having background color to black, crop entire image and drag required distance outside picture. Double click
P.s this is my second attempt at submitting so it is a more basic description, went to submit last time and lost the lot. All that detailed description gone kaput lol

clone tool, saturation, maybe curves
October 30, 2008 8:31 am
You used the cloning tool to clone the beach background over the woman. Then of course, you fixed the hand a bit with the healing brush. Cropped it out and copied it on black background.
Although you could also use a layer mask, etc.
October 29, 2008 1:27 pm
1- Cloned out the girl
2- cleaned up around the boy’s hand
3- Hue/Saturation to make the ocean extra blue
4- used eraser to bring back color in the man
5- very little hue/sauration on the sand
6- cropping tool to make the border and color black.
October 29, 2008 9:58 am
Hi Shane,
Well first off, you used the clone tool to remove the girl from the image, applying it to the sea, the sand and the shadow, then removing her hand by cloning a part of the man´s arm. Then you used selective color to change the color of the sea and the sky, by changing the parameters of the cyan and the blue channel. After that, you changed the background color to black and extended the canvas to make the black border.
Well thats my guess, I hope I´m right
bye

Hi Shane,
I think , you first used the CLONE TOOL to remove the girl from the photograph. Next you slightly reduced the size of the photo and used the brightness/contrast corrections to add more intensity to the colors in the photo. Then you went to IMAGE — Canvas Size — adding 2 inches to the width and height dimensions. Next with the foreground color set to WHITE and the background color set to BLACK you made the new canvas that produced the frame around the finished photograph.

Hi Shane,
I think you used the CLONE TOOL to remove the girl from the photograph. Then you slightly adjusted the overall size of the image. You went to IMAGE — CANVAS SIZE and added 2 inches to the height and 2 inches to the width of the new canvas. Next you CREATED A NEW CANVAS with the foreground color set to white and background color set to black. This produced a new canvas with a black background or frame around the image of the man on the beach.
October 29, 2008 2:25 am
I copied the image to PS-CS2 and used the eraser tool to remove the female image & her hand. The clone stamp for the sand, water and his left arm and shadow on sand. The clone and blur tool on the water. I sent my copy to your email address and would love to have your comments. I would like to have copied his right hand and pasted it in reverse to his left wrist because it would have looked better.
October 29, 2008 1:23 am
I used the selection tool to outline the woman, and the shadow, then I used the patch tool replaced the selected woman then using the clone tool I corrected little imperfections. Then changing the picture to lab mode and using the curves adjusted the overall look of the picture to make the colors pop. It only took me afew minutes to do that though the picture quality is not that great because I used a copy of this posted picture, but it worked just as well. For the final touch I added the black border – frame.
October 29, 2008 1:20 am
1 a duplicate layer was done
2 the girl was outline and removed
3 water was cloned and blended in
4 a duplicate procedure was done for the arm
5 a final picture created; hue aand saturation was increased
6 a black background created, picture downsized
October 29, 2008 1:00 am
all of the above…… but I did notice thaT THE REPLACEMENT WATER CAME FROM THE RIGHT OF THE PHOTO WhERE THE COLOR IS A LITTLE LIGHTER and leaves a ghost appearance of where the girl used to be.
October 29, 2008 12:12 am
1. Open the ‘couple photo’
2. Double click to make it a layer and rename it ‘couple photo1′
3. Duplicate the ‘couple photo1′ and name it as ‘couple photo2′ (so now it should be ‘couple photo 2 should be now on the above of the ‘couple photo1′
4. Select ‘couple photo 2′ then take the Pen tool and draw as straight as u can on the lady just around her.
5. When u finished drawing on the lady take the move tool and then (Ctrl+click) on the thumbnail of the (shape1) layer
6. Then select ‘couple photo2′ press Delete.
7. Go to the ‘couple photo1′ then just drag it to right side till u get what u want (till it matches)
8. Go to ‘couple photo2′ take the eraser tool with fading brush around 60 or lesser, just erase a little near the border (the blank lady area)
How do u find??? Interesting??
Note: Till now u shouldn’t have touch the guy’s hand, right! ok,
9. Now clone tool then adjust it! & then select (shift+click layer ‘couple photo 1′ & ‘couple photo 2′) then press Ctrl+E to merge (if u wish to) & then adjust the color! Thats it… Hope I will win the DVD …can’t wait!!
Thanks Shane & very creative

stamp tool
October 28, 2008 11:47 pm
Hey shane!
I think you used a Vanishing point tool and you finished up with healing brush and clone tool.
October 28, 2008 11:18 pm
First you selected the woman and erased her from the picture. Then you used the clone tool and cloned the sky, sea and sand. You recreated the shape of the man’s hand and used the clone tool to fill it in. Then you adjusted the canvas size and added the black border.
October 28, 2008 10:42 pm
This is how I did it:
- Duplicate the layer
- Select the girl and use the patch tool and the clone stamp tool to remove her from the picture. Remembering to include her shadow in the removal process.
- Fix the man’s arm with the stamp tool.
- Use hue/saturation to up the blues in the sky and water
- Add a layer and fill it with black behind the picture
- Use the rectangle marquee tool to select the section on the picture you want to keep. Go to select on the tool bar and choose inverse and then delete that section for the black border.
Hopefully that is how you did it as well!
October 28, 2008 10:38 pm
It was simple. I think you cropped the lady out of the picture with the selection tool, then reselected the same blank area and drug the selection to copy the beach and sea, then pasted that into the area where the lady was. You then used the smudge tool to blend everything in so you couldn’t see the edges where the lady was. You did the same steps where the had was to make it blend correctly. I did this same process and got the same results in 3 to 4 minutes.
October 28, 2008 9:50 pm
- clone out the girl with a large brush soft edge
- clone out areas near the boy with smaller and harder brushes (including the hand)
- increase canvass size (top and bottom)
- select blank areas of the canvass with the magic wand
- use the bucket tool to color the selected blank areas with black
- hue-saturation and brightness-contrast tweaks
and thats it !
October 28, 2008 9:30 pm
how to loose a girlfriend in 4 min. huh
dupilicate the photo, enhcance the color, more the image over to the left and use the wand to remove the unwanted person but tracing around them and then using a color fill to blend the two images together.
October 28, 2008 5:59 pm
The tools used are the patch, clone and spot healing tools.
October 28, 2008 4:53 pm
OK, I think this is it…
1. duplicate the background layer (Now Layer 2)
2. Using a fairly large brush clone out the girl and their hands, you don’t have to be very careful here.
3. Create another layer (layer 3) on top of layer 2. Make a selection fairly carefully around the girl and the part of the arms that are overlapping. Make this selection a layer mask (there should be a black outline where the girl and unwanted hands are).
4. Go to the Background layer and make a small selection of the hands and copy, then paste that into a new layer (layer 4) on top of the layer 3. Use the clone tool with a very small brush and clone some of his arm into the new wrist, use the smudge tool to push the colors down so it looks more like a continuous wrist to the hand. Carefully cut off the girl’s thumb and any part of the area surrounding the guy’s hand. Now go to filters, noise, add noise, use monochromatic at 1% to add texture back into the new wrist and heel of his hand.
5. Select all three of the visible working layers (Not The Background Layer) and merge visible.
6. You now have just the Background Layer and one on top of it (the merged image), now layer 2.
7. Using the Crop Tool, make a selection around the image and stretch the edges out to where you want your new edges to be; apply the crop and Photoshop will add canvas around your image.
8. Create a new layer (layer 3) and select all. Fill with Black, now create a smaller rectangle inside the borders of your image canvas and invert the selection, Now click on layer mask to create your black frame.
9. Go back to layer 2 and add a Curves adjustment layer to it and adjust the curves to enrich the colors.
10. Select both of the top layers and merge visible. You now have your new image similar to Shanes’.
11. Delete your Background Layer and perform a
Save As” and save the file in your preferred image format.
I know this sounds like a lot but it’s step-by-step and really pretty easy and fast.

Shane,
In order to maintain the angle of the sea, its waves, shore and all its details, I just used the Vanishing Point Filter and took 5-6 minutes while talking to my friends to RECONSTRUCT and get a result close to the couple-beach after, a copy of the same has been e-mailed to you for your valuable comments.
October 28, 2008 4:42 pm
Shane, To maintain perfect angles of the sea waves and the Shore with all its details, I used the Vanishing Point Filter and within 5-6 minutes while talking to my friends, I found almost accurate results. I have in the meantime sent the RECONSTRUCTED couple-beach to your e-mail address for your comments please.

Liquid Resize with a protection layer mask?
October 28, 2008 3:05 pm
You have previously extolled the virtue of PS and how thoroughly comprehensive the strength of its tool list is; so as an expert I would expect you to have produced a better result if you had utilised some of the tools us novices know little about. I have concluded therefore that you restricted yourself entirely to the clone tool on this occasion.
October 28, 2008 3:01 pm
sorry infact Crop Tool is with below list.
October 28, 2008 2:59 pm
Crop Tool
This can be done with simple Clone Stamp Tool but we can alos use these tool for proper finishing.
Clone Tool
Layers
Masking
Selection Tool
Filters
Zoom (in , Out)
I think tese are sufficient.
October 28, 2008 2:54 pm
You possibly used the clone tool
October 28, 2008 2:33 pm
Hi Shane
I think you have used the Clone tool and removed the girl and fixed the guys hand.
October 28, 2008 1:59 pm
@alvint73143 that’s fine
October 28, 2008 1:58 pm
Hi Shane. I think you used a large soft brush to cover the girl with cloned sea and sand from the background. Then, used the patch tool to remove her hand from his. Once she was gone you increased the saturation by duplicating the layer (dragging it to the new layer icon at the bottom of the layers pallette). You changed the layer mode of the new layer to overlay, then flattened the two layers. Finally you went to the image menu and clicked on canvas size. You increased the canvas size from the centre of the canvas by adding 2 inches to the height and 3 inches to the width, and chose black as the exteneded canvas colour.
October 28, 2008 1:56 pm
Shane …My entry is #17 submitted 2 days ago…
October 28, 2008 1:40 pm
I think the picture is really two pictures….One of the beach and one possibly of the couple on the beach or just by themselves.
You masked the lady and then made her trasnparent but if you look close there is still a very faint residual of her.
October 28, 2008 1:18 pm
Hi Shane,
I think you’ve created a new layer to work on, use the clone tool to erase the girl and enhanced the picture using curves and then added a border. Can’t wait to watch your video on how you do it
