Thailand Day 1By Shane on March 18, 2010 | 15 Comments
Here we are at dinner on Day 1 for a Seafood extravaganza! It was amazing. The restaurant is located over the river, have to get through lots of backstreets to get there but absolutely worth it! Dinner was 925 Baht in total (just over $30) that included about 8 dishes, all drinks for 3 people. It was amazing and we couldn’t eat about 1/2 of it too. Just too filling
Mike on the side of the street near Pratuu Naam – lots of action going on in the background!
Some Red-Shirt action in Bangkok!
More Red-shirt action
Very peaceful – posed no threat or issue for us at all.Streets of Bangkok – here’s some of the protesters making there way through (Red-Shirts) Was very peaceful from our perspective, people were cheering them on as they drove past was almost like welcoming home olympians after a successful olympics or something! I know that probably sounds really weird
Pineapples at the Markets (near Chatuchak)
Gotta love the crafty electrical work!
The view from where we had dinner. (bit of a crappy photo) but hopefully you get the feel for what it was like.
The houses on the river right next to where we were eating dinner. Some beautiful traditional housing others look like rickety old lean to type houses – amazing stuff
This dish is something that probably very few thai food lovers would have experienced! It’s Pad Thai (minus the noodles) a special ‘famous’ seafood version! Absolutely delicious.
This is my probably all time favourite Thai dish Naam Tog with Khaaw Niaw (sticky rice) I had it twice yesterday – a bit of a pig but I really love it and had to make the most of it!! LOL
On the Tuk Tuk in the pouring rain!! This was hilarious. The Tuk Tuk started to splutter a little as it was getting water logged, we were all laughing so hard as we were getting soaked, ducking and weaving through the traffic and wondering if we were going to make it before the Tuk Tuk stalled!! LOL Fun times.
